Is zinc replacement is a much needed one during dive service?
Maintaining the vessels in a good condition is not an easy process. Regular underwater dive service is the only way to make the vessel work in an effective manner. The regular dive service benefits will be seen during the long trips. Underwater propeller maintenance, zinc replacement and boat bottom cleaning are the major checkups done during dive service. Presence of zinc plays an important role in the movement of the vessel. For electric current absorption and electrolysis elimination, zinc elements are placed in the boat bottoms. Without regular maintenance, the boat will face more problems such as engine failures, fuel inefficiency during the long travels.
Presence of Zinc in Boats:
Corrosion will be raised in the hulls and propeller after a regular interval of time. This type of corrosion arises due to the tiny electric currents which eliminate the atoms present in the metal layer. The cathode present in the atoms gets eliminated it will give rise to the corrosion of the boat metals. For eliminating this type of corrosion an anode will be placed nearby, the cathode will start corroding the anode. This act will make your boat parts safer without facing any type of corrosion.
How to maintain the boat zinc?
Depending upon the places the boat zinc replacement process will differ. With respect to the size of the vessel, the zinc numbers will completely change. Two or Three zinc will be used for small boats. Approximately five count of zinc will be used for larger boats. Whenever the zinc weight increases by half of its original weight, the zinc replacement has to be done. The deposit of carbonate will directly show that anode is not working and it has to be replaced. For boat zinc there will be no need for regular replacement but it has to be checked every time during dive service.
